La Bonneterie a longtemps été l’activité principale de Troyes et de son agglomération. De nombreuses usines dressaient leurs cheminées dans le ciel Troyen et si en 1914 il y avait plus de 100 cheminées dans l’agglomération, il n’en reste plus que 19 à ce jour.
Découvrons à nouveau ces vestiges d’un beau patrimoine industiel!

Textile manufacturing was the main activity of the city of Troyes for a long time. Many plant’s chimneys stood in the sky of Troyes and even there was more than 100 chimneys in Troyes in the year 1914, only 19 are still remaining today.

ETABLISSEMENTS DEVANLAY-RECOING

En 1893, Vanarien Derrey vend sa fabrique de bonneterie, fondée en 1870 rue de la Grande Planche, à la société Plénat aîné et Flogny, née en 1891.
Elle devient Devanlay et Plénat fils en 1904, puis L. Devanlay & Recoing en 1920.
En 1931, elle est reprise par Pierre Lévy et devient un élément du puissant groupe développé par ce dernier après la Seconde Guerre mondiale avec le rachat de Bonbon, Régley, Gillier, Desnoyers, Rémy-Plénat...
En 1933 un partenariat est signé entre Devanlay et René Lacoste concédant à Devanlay la fabrication mondiale des vêtements Lacoste
L'usine, profondément transformée au milieu des années 1950, abrite Devanlay Sport jusqu'en 1994.
Réhabilitée, elle accueille maintenant la Communauté de l'agglomération Troyenne dénommée Grand Troyes et diverses sociétés tertiaires.
Une partie de l’usine accueille, rue du Paradis, depuis 2001 le Lycée Professionnel Jeanne Mance. On peut apercevoir une cheminée tronquée dans la cour du Lycée, visible depuis la rue Courtalon

Built in 1870 the Derrey textile manufacturing plant is sold several times.
In 1931 Pierre Levy bought the Plant and made a big manufacturing trust with other purchase such as Bonbon, Regley, Gillier….
In 1933 a partnership between Devanlay and René Lacoste was signed and this allowed Devanlay to manufacture the famous Lacoste clothes all around the world.
In the 50's the plant was renewed and hosted Devanlay Sport .
In 1994 the plant closed its doors, the activity was transferred in an other location.
In 2000 the plant is rehabilited in a building where the Troyes and its suburbs lodge in.
The Jeanne Mance Technical school occupies a part of the plant and in the courtyard stands a cut chimney.
