Geocache Description:

The St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery is located in Gill Township 3 miles west of Wakefield in the SE corner of Clay County. You are looking for a silver bison partially covered with camouflaged tape.

Welcome to The Three C’s series of caches. My aunt taught me the three C’s growing up to be calm, cool, and collective. However in this series the three C’s are Clay County Cemeteries. Some of the cemeteries in Clay county have already been claimed, but many have not.

This is cemetery is not on the tax roll; it is maintained by income from the glebe. A glebe is land set aside for the church’s use of income derived from the land. The entrance of St John’s is enhanced by prairie grasses, big and little bluestem, and Indian grass waving gently in the Kansas wind. Inside the entrance is a large stone cross.

Please be respectful of those buried in the cemetery and leave the grounds in the same condition or better when you leave. The cache should be relatively easy to find with no bush whacking required. Good luck and happy hunting.
