Boats under the bridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Seascout78: Sorry, but I am assuming it is the local kids who keep finding this hidden under/on the bridge and don't know the GC etiquette! The things they have done to this cache in the past is ugly.
I will try find another safer location on the waterfront for you to visit but this one is retiring.

Geocache Description:

You have to go off the bridge and walk down the side. Small round thumb sized plastic bottle, tucked away from the rain and from inquisitive kids.

Well this cache is not actually by the seaside like my others, but it is by sea water. I bring you here in the hope that as you are walking across the bridge you will stop in the middle, soak in your surroundings and watch the boats slide past underneath you. The water in West Lakes is sea water, fed into the Northern end of the lake from the Port River, and on any weekend you will find all sorts of people muckin' about in all sorts of boats.
There is plenty of room in these rivers and basins around Delphin Island to try kayaking, rowing, paddling on a stand-up board, (the new trend) or if you really want some fun try and excitement you can try Dragon Boating.
The calm waters around here are also popular for sailing and sail-boarding beginners. People even paddle special built canoes around here equipped with fishing gear - not sure what type they catch, but they do catch fish.

For approx 9 months of the year our DragonBoat clubs are plowing thru the water making a hell of a racket and having fun. We do it with style and a lot of noise - I just stand at the back of the boat, whip them in to action and steer them through the finish line!

On the other end of this bridge is a watering hole for Camels ? - and a shopping centre for an ice cream. Lawns and seats give you plenty of opportunity to sit and watch the world float by.

Let me know how many boats go under the bridge while you are there. Weekend mornings are the most popular. Enjoy
