Cult Kids
TV
This is a non-continuous series of caches all based around Cult Kids TV programmes. They will come from any period of television and some will be well known, others less so. The intention is to provide a range of caching locations, containers and level of challenge. The series will be added to over time…so watch this space!
The Wombles is the real definition of Cult Kids TV. 60 episodes were made across 2 original series, filmed in stop motion in 1973 and 1975. The series told of fictional creatures living on Wimbledon Common, collecting up other peoples junk (an early CITO event, perhaps?!!?). The name came from a child of the original author, Elizabeth Beresford, mistakenly saying Wombledon Common as they walked across it one day.
After the original series, three new series were filmed in the late 1990s. The spin-off Wombles band also had numerous UK top 20 hits, including a Number 2 and even appeared at Glastonbury in 2011...
Mike Batt's theme song with it's famed "Underground, Overground" opening lyrics is the basis for this cache, as at GZ, you can be underground, overground, at ground level, or even over-overground - it's up to you to figure out which one you need to be at.
That said, to be absolutely clear, you do not need to leave a footpath to get this cache.
