Plastic jar covered in duck tape off the canal trail in Duke Island Park. TAKE CARE TO RESET THE CACHE JUST LIKE YOU FOUND IT!
This is a very sentimental cache for me. Almost 50 years ago my family started holding reunions at the Apple Grove in Duke Island Park in Bridgewater. We would play softball, just like a family did today when Jayne and I placed the cache. We had hot dogs, hamburgers and freshly-picked corn on the cob which my brother would cook in a huge pot on top of a grill. Oh, and how could I forget my mother's famous home-made potato salad and baked beans? At least eight to ten components of our extended family would gather about the same time every summer, year after year. Today we saw a number of Indian families enjoying themselves, and to their credit they remain very close-knit even as the culture around them seems to get more and more detached.
This hide rests within 100 yards of our reunion site. You shouldn't have any trouble at all with it as long as you watch your footing! In the container we placed a plastic compass, Cluck-U bottle opener, Canadian coin, log and pen. When leaving swag, think of the children who, like I did half a century ago, form happy memories in this park.
