Great Blue Heron - An Island Spirit Legacy.

Great Blue Heron
The Great Blue Heron is usually spotted in marsh lands such as Somenos Marsh or tidal waters such as the Cowichan Bay Estuary where they typically feed on small fish. Both of these areas generally provide a good opportunity to watch these magnificent birds. Although they have an impressive wingspan of roughly 6 feet and quite commonly are 3 feet tall, they can be hard to spot as they blend in with the water with their grey-blue plumage.
