Geocache Description:

This series, FWP or Famous Wisconsin People, will acknowledge the accomplishments of some well-known (and maybe not so well-known) individuals from our state.

John Matuszak was born in Milwaukee in 1950. He grew up in Oak Creek. He played football and attended the University of Tampa. He was the first selection in the 1973 NFL draft as a defensive lineman, by the Houston Oilers. He helped the Oakland Raiders win Super Bowls XI and XV before retiring from the NFL after the 1982 season. His football career was overshadowed by his infamous partying.

After football, Matuszak became an actor where he is perhaps best knownfor his portrayal of Sloth in The Goonies. He also appeared in many popular TV shows, including M*A*S*H*, The Dukes of Hazzard, Silver Spoons, The A-Team, Miami Vice and Cheers. Matuszak died of a drug overdose in 1989.

You are searching for a small container placed in honor of John Matuszak’s accomplishments.

Please enter from Woods Road parking area or Belmont Dr. Do not enter from private property in the neighboring subdivisions. Parking will be limited in the evenings that there are soccer or baseball games, so plan accordingly. Please consider coming at times that the park will not be used for soccer or baseball games/practice for a more comfortable experience.

This cache was placed with permission from Craig Anderson from the City of Muskego Park and Recreation Department. According to Anderson, the park is open 5 am til 10 pm, but according to a sign at the park, the park is open 5 am til 11 pm. As always, treat the parks with respect. This can be a very high traffic area so please be aware of muggles and replace the cache so that it is not visible to others. Thanks!
