Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series we have placed in this wooded area north of Telephone road to be released in conjunction with the 2012 Explore Quinte West event.

When we discovered this area after placing our What the Heck cache we thought it would be a great place for some caches. We inquired with the Public Works and Environmental Services division at the Quinte West City Hall to see who owns it and they verified that this is provincially owned public property.

At the parking coordinates near the “EQ - Start or End” cache you will find an entrance and metal gate that was installed a few years ago. This was to discourage garbage dumping after large amount of stuff was left here and an expensive cleanup had to be done to get rid of it.

Now it looks like this is a popular bike, quad, and off-roading area with lots of tracks throughout the woods.

This is a rugged area with natural hazards you must be conscious of. The trails have lots of soft deep sand and some parts of the trails are strewn with branches and other tripping hazards. Like all the wooded areas here expect mosquitoes and ticks in the summer time. There is also Poison ivy in the area. While we did not see any at any of the locations, it is early in the season and the plants are just starting to sprout. Watch where you walk and assume you have encountered some in your travels and take appropriate precautions.

We took our mountain bikes and were able to do a fair amount of the loop on them but had to walk our bikes a few times through soft sand and up and down steep slopes as we scouted out the area.

The entire loop is 2.5 Km returning to the start along the side of Telephone Road.

You can also add a side trip half way though the loop to get to “What the Heck” and a couple of other caches at the On Route rest stop area if you have not already done them.

We suggest starting at “EQ - Start or End and finishing at “EQ - Bev's UPset 1” but it can be done either way.

At this cache you are looking for a small cammoed container with a log book. There is only room for a few small trade items like coins. There is no pen or pencil so bring your own.

This cache has been placed for the Explore Quinte West event held in Trenton, ON and cannot be found until 12^th of May 2012 after 9:30am.
