In August 2011, the County of Lennox & Addington joined forces with the Lennox & Addington Geocachers to host a fantastic event in Napanee, Ontario (check it out here).

After counting the 220 names in the log book, we realized that a MEGA EVENT was very attainable in 2012. So August 25th, we hope to do just that.

What is a MEGA EVENT? Well, according to Geocaching.com...

7.5. Mega-Event Classification
A Mega-Event is similar to an Event Cache, only it is much larger. In order to qualify as a Mega-Event, it must have been attended by 500+ people. So Cachers, it is up to you to help spread the word, and invite everyone you know. Cachers or not.

If this event is awarded MEGA status, you will automatically receive a MEGA EVENT ICON in your Geocaching profile.

Event Geocaches

One of the main goals of the "Discover L&A County Geocaching Event" is to take you on a tour of our County using Geocaches as reference points. As well as the existing Approx. 750 caches already in L&A County, 60 new caches will be placed for the event, including:

- Earth Caches,
- Letterbox Hybrid's,
- Puzzle Caches,
- Multi Stage Caches,
- Traditional's, and
- Wherigo's.

And, along with the Event and Cito Icons, you could get 8 types on this day.

Introducing the Great L&A Passport Geotour

Yes Geocachers, we're going all out. There will be 15 new geocaches scattered throughout Lennox & Addington, from the shore of Lake Ontario to the northern edge of the County near Denbigh, Ontario.

Each of the 15 Geocaches contain a "Punch Stamp". Obtain your Passport book at the event, collect all 15 stamps and return your passport to the event for a free geocoin.

After the event, passport books and geocoins can be obtained from the Lennox & Addington County Office in Napanee and from the Land O' Lakes Tourist Office in Kaladar.

(There is no time restriction on completing the tour, so take as long as you want - days months, or years. As long as you collect all 15 stamps and return your passport to us, you will receive your prize!)

Onsite Games & Activities

Games for Geocachers and Muggles will be running all day including the ever popular:

- Ammo Can Toss,
- Micro Basketball,
- Mark Your Spot,
- Geocache Fish Pond,
- Guessing Jar, and
