McArthur Island Treasure Hunt (MITH)


The McArthur Island Treasure Hunt (MITH) series is a geo-training playground for new geocachers with a variety of cache types and difficulty levels. Caches are safe, family-friendly, and some are wheelchair accessible. All caches promote the highest standards of geocaching etiquette by encouraging cachers to practice low impact caching, respect other park users, and trade responsibly.

Most of all, they are meant to be fun!

This cache replaces MITH-Nomer CITO which was muggled by some unscrupulous characters, hence the more they steal. . . demeaner we get . . . not . . . the craftier we get.

As was written in the original cache, part of the Geocaching experience is to do the responsible thing and leave an area in better condition than we found it when we arrived.  This means we pack out what we pack in and / or pack out what others have left behind.  Carrying a garbage bag as part of your Geocaching supply is a good idea (it can always be used for an emergency rain coat).

A CITO (Cache In Trash Out) is usually an event, however, for this series of caches on Mac Island, we have made this a CITO cache where anytime we cache or visit the island, it would be great to pick up any waste lying around and deposit it in one of the many trash cans on the island.

This cache is a small camo'd match container with no room for trade items.  We have listed this cache as a 3.5 difficulty due to the unique camo.  It is strategically placed in a high muggle area.

Please make sure to re-hide this cache with the special camo around it.  Thanks.
