Geocache Description:

This cache is inspired by a natural spring water fountain hidden right here in Staten Island. Although the water supply is open to the public, the fountain is on the Marine Corps property and is locked up over night. On any given day you can see many local residents come to this free flowing spout with gallon jugs to bring home. While there are plenty of rumors as to where this water is coming from, it has been tested and the water matched up to that which came from mountains in northern New Jersey. The Staten Island Advance reported that in the late 1800's the property was owned by Crystal Water Company and before the island had access to reservoirs upstate, private company's sold well water right from the island. Several years ago the owners of the Marine Corps league almost decided to lock off access for good due to the amount of litter being left by visitors. If you visit, please enjoy the fresh water with respect to the property surrounding it. To find this cache you must think outside the cache container. Some stealth required due to the location of the cache being on Victory blvd. BYOP, it is only big enough to hold the log. It is handmade, so please be gentle & leave feedback. Happy Caching!
