This remix is based on the research for a book about The Jews of Norfolk . You will visiting the sights of lost Synagogues and other places associated with the Jewish community of Norwich and further afield .

You start in the Jewry (no that is not a spelling mistake nor anything to do with the court house)

N 52 37.643 E 001 17.596

The Jewry is the area of a medieval town that is home to the Jewish community and Norwich had one of the largest Jewish communities in England at the time. This Scola or ghetto existed between 1240 to 1290. Its heart was the Synagogue, which stretching from White Lion St. almost to Orford Place, some of the undercrofts still exist today. The burial ground is now a nearby pub. A few steps away from where you are is a street map and information board that will help you. Number of letters in the first word under the heading The Jewish Community = D
Walk through the Jewry to N 52 37.671 E 001 17.602. Just a short walk from where you stand. Here you will find an Opticians that stands on the site of the old Synagogue. Take the white number in the blue circle away from 10 = E

Carry on walking to .

N 52 37.756 E 001 17.574

and your way you will pass a Jeweller's which was started by Harriet A Jew from Great Yarmouth. You may become aware of how close you are to the castle. These communities tended to stay close to the seat of power because Jews were the property of the Crown so came under the Kings protection

You are now in Holtor Street where a Synagogue stood from 1087 till 1154. Number of dots on each of the glass panels =A.

Now a bit of a schlep

N 52 38.022 E 001 17.737

You are at the current home of the Progressive Jewish Community there is a peaceful garden accessed round the left side. On the way you will find a memorial stone for Thomas Browne the year of his demise =1F94

N 52 37.900 E 001 17.919

You are now slightly to the north of two strapping fellows, one mythical and one biblical. In its time this place has been a nightclub but our quest pre-dates that in the small room just in front of you is where the Torah was kept. Head south then turn west past the antique shop. You are now at the end of the Synagogue which stood here from 1828 to 1848. You will find a plaque for the house built by Augustine Stewart who was Burgess to Parliament in abc7 a+c-b=B.

N 52 37.529 E 001 17.576 You are standing near a travel agents (do not worry you will not need your passport for this tour) with a strong Jewish connection. Some where off this street in the 19th century was a passageway called Gowing's Court and in this Court was the Synagogue

Near by is a line of stands to lock bikes to. Number of stands =C?

The final co-ordinates are N 52 37.ABC E 001 17.DEF

CONGRATULATIONS CAT MAN DO AND RCMARKB ON BEING FIRST TO FIND
