The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching.
The event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer. It will begin precisely at 20.00 hours on June 9th, 2012. The event will be held at the Gorgeous Restaurant.
The following is an itinerary of the event.
20.00 hours: You will be required to blow up your balloon tie a lenght of string to your balloon and then tie your balloon onto the railing over looking the small garden at the Gorgeous Restaurant. A bucket will be placed at the coordinates. At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of "nowhere". Before this time, please walk around the pool area and act like a muggle.
Participants will sign a log card/raffle entries (which will later become a log book), to qualify for attendance, drop them in the designated bucket. Bring a pen. Participants may trade swag via the swag bucket at any time. We encourage you to bring nice swag to trade.
20.05 hours: We will take a group photo.
20.10 hours: Raffle winner will be called out.
20.15 hours: The bucket, and the log cards will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be vacated without a trace!!!
Only those participants whose names appear on the log cards may log the event. Tell your friends and help promote the event!
Suggestion: come early and have a drink or meal at the Gorgeous Restaurant. Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 20.15 hours. Afterwards, participants may chat, meet, eat and plan for a day of caching!!!
I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!)
The WWFM idea was started in 2007 after 2 cachers attended a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event: all the cool aspects of a geocaching event, crammed into 15 minutes of excitement. An added dimension is represented by the letters "WW" - World Wide - these events occur across the planet on the same day at (mostly) the same time! These caching events are intended to bring geocachers together in a creative way, as well as introduce others (newbies) to the hobby.
