The coordinates take you in sight of the unusually shaped Wedge Bank Building.
Alton Banking and Trust Co. was organized in 1902 by a group of Alton businessmen and began with a capital of one hundred thousand dollars. In 1904 at a cost of about twenty thousand dollars the bank built a three story triangular building at the corner of Second and Weigler. The streets have since been renamed and are now known as Third and Broadway. The Bank became known as the Wedge Bank because of the unique shape of the building that housed the bank. In the great depression of the 1930s, when banks were failing all over the country, the Wedge remained open for business. It was one of the few banks in the nation to weather the depression without the help from government agencies. The building closed as a banking facility in 1996.
The cache has been placed in a walkway between two buildings adjacent to the Wedge Bank Building.
Parking is available along the street.
The container is a Magnetic Centrifuge Tube that holds only a log sheet.
Bring a writing instrument to sign the log – this is a small log sheet so sign with date and name only.
