Geocache Description:

In hockey, a Hat Trick is when a player scores 3 goals in a single game. The container is a pint sized plastic jar spray painted camo. This cache joins 2 others in an area of White Oaks WMA best entered from the end of Whitehall road, nearest cross-street Salem Ave. If you haven’t logged the other 2 yet, score a hat trick and visit all 3 on the same day. Congratulations to whats_a_thruway for their FTF.

I recommend parking on the asphalt at the end of Whitehall Road and walking the dirt road back. This cache, and one of the others, is less than 500 yards from the end of the road. Most of the walk is on a hard packed dirt road with a few puddles to navigate around, however the last 50 yards may get a little tricky, no bushwhacking required but don't wear your good sneakers. Years ago before this area was acquired as a WMA, this spot was harvested by a lumber company for cedar. It looked a lot different when they finished. It looks a lot different now. Take a look at the satellite image and it looks like a great place to do some 4 wheeling, it is not. The scar remains but Mother Nature is gradually returning this location to what it once was. WARNING#1: If you decide to drive back, be prepared to call friends or family to pull you out if you get stuck because the local tow truck operators usually decline the tow after you tell them where you are. WARNING#2: This is a popular area for the local gun clubs to hunt. It is loaded with deer, wild turkeys and all the other critters. Remember, don’t wear white until after Memorial Day, and wear orange during hunting season.
