The cache may be found in either of two ways: by following your GPS to the coordinates posted above, or by following the questing clues in the poem below. Inside the cache you will find stickers, which are part of a separate questing activity being conducted by the park district. You are welcome to take a sticker and participate in that activity as well.
The River Styx quest starts in the parking lot located on River Styx Rd. between Blake and Rt. 57 in Montville Township. (See the additional waypoint, below.) A little over a half mile round trip hike will be required to complete this portion of the quest. Use the poem below or a GPS to get you there.
Now your quest will be much shorter by far.
If you find the migration sign when you leave your car.
Read the rest of the story. Turn left; off you go.
Take the “Y” to the right. Leave the lake down below.
As you walk up the hill, you might hear the call,
Of Blue Jay and Chickadee, Titmouse and all.
The chip of the Cardinal might reach your ear.
Flute-like notes of the Wood Thrush, a joy to hear.
The tap of the woodpecker on hollow tree,
“I’ve found bugs for dinner! Oh, yum-mee, yum-mee!”
A succulent feast of aphids and seeds,
Supply feathered friends with all of their needs.
“Are we there yet?” you ask. Well, have you crossed a bridge?
If you have, then your target is on the next ridge.
The path winds on up. On the left, here’s the trick.
Two trees grow together, one thin and one thick.
A bit further on, look up to the right.
The second bunch of grapevine, a welcoming sight.
Need one more clue? It’s near the tree,
Visited two years ago by J and T.
Your quest, now successful; your work here is done.
Complete the loop trail. There’s no need to run.
Take time to listen. Pause and you’ll see,
Why migrating songbirds love Medina County.
The cache, a regular sized lock-n-lock container, is located about 15 feet from the trail, so please do not bushwack. Re-hide the container so that it cannot be seen and use stealth to avoid the container being seen by people who might take or vandalize it. Please remember to cache in trash out. Park closes at dark.
