Geocache Description:

A Sandcreek cache.

This cache is named after "Sawall" who gave me this cache container.  Sawall has many many secrets, not the least of which is this cache.  This cache will be easiest to find in the fall and winter....a little more difficult when the weeds/grasses/ivy is up.  Most of the distance to this cache will be on a nice wide trail.  You'll get close and decide on the most reasonable place for the cache...Then the search will be on!

The Paris-Springfield Road, established in 1824 ran through what is now Sand Creek Conservation Area....crossing Sand Creek at the Old Trace Ford.  The Lincoln family traveled through here on their way from Indiana in March 1830.  The road was also used by thousands of people throughout Illinois who were moving to California and Oregon in the 1840s and 1850s.

For further information, stop at the kiosk near the entrance.

Please pay attention to when the gate to the area closes.  It's posted on the entrance gate.  (10:00 PM)

Leave nature as you found for others to enjoy. Congrats to sixrows on the FTF on 5/18/2012 @6:35am
