July 1: We're having a lunch picnic and potluck.
The CA will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs with buns. There will be bottled water on hand, too.
If you would like to bring drinks, condiments, a side dish or dessert that would be great.

So far there around 30 permanent caches planned. Right after the picnic, you can upload a file for these and be ready to go.

The Heron Lake Paddle Fest will be held that weekend. It might provide transportation for the cache hidden on the island.
Also the weekend is Chama Days which explains the high motel rates. The camp sites in the state park range from handling large RV's to primitive camping.
Either casita at Tierra Wools might still be available.
Abiquiu has several places to stay. That is about an hour away.

June 28 announcement: The Stone House Lodge Restaurant is open on the weekends and it does serve breakfast. Today they have one cabin available for only Friday night. The Trailers and Apartments are mostly available. My advice would be to make your housing reservations ASAP even if you are camping.
I will announce event particulars in the next day or three.

August 7 announcements: We're celebrating New Mexico's Centennial this Saturday at Heron Lake with a potluck! My current favorite potluck food is hamburgers and hot dogs. I'm bringing enough burgers (some veggie burgers, too) with buns and hot dogs with buns for everyone. Also, I'm bringing bottled water, mustard, ketchup, relish and pickles.
Please bring your favorite potluck side dish or dessert to help us celebrate.

I have a gpx file of new unpublished caches. If you bring a USB cable for your particular GPS, we can upload them for you. Of course, we'll have paper backups.

The park superintendent has asked me to tell you: if you need to purchase a daily parking pass for the state park, you can do so at the Visitor Center (N36 41.632 W106 39.255). I expect it will be $5/day.

Check the weather report for Chama because it can be cold and rainy in August. A p.m. t-storm is possible for the weekend.
