Geocache Description:

A cache at Restronguet Passage. A short offset multi on level ground, starting at the "Golden Postbox" and then onto the cache site. Parking can be difficult, I'll leave that up to you!

This cache is placed in recognition of Ben Ainslies 4th Gold medal in a row at the London Olympics 2012 where he sailed in the Finn class at Weymouth. This box will only be Gold for a few months and then should return to the normal red colour.

Ben Ainslie lived near here when he was a youngster. He went to an independant school in Truro and started his sailing career at the age of 8yrs at the Restronguet Sailing Club in Mylor Churchtown. He has gained a Silver and then 4 Golds in the last 5 Olympics. This has made him the greatest British sailor in Olympic history. The Royal mail have painted a postbox Gold for each Brit that has won a Gold medal at the 2012 games. Originally the box was going to remain like this for 6 months, but was then decided to keep them like this indefinitely. Nine years on it's still painted Gold.

The listed co-ords are for the Victorian Postbox that is set in the wall of the iconic 13th century thatched building, which was partially gutted by fire in 2011 and then refurbished/rebuilt and reopened at Easter 2012.

You will need to make note of the Postbox number which is at the bottom of the plate and will be - TR ab cd. The cache is a small bison tube and can be found at - N50*11.(d+a)(a-b)c. W005*03.(a+d+b)(d-a)(c+d)
