Cape Cod TB Hotel Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Fee&me: On the 11th anniversary of its birth, we're retiring the Cape Cod TB Hotel. This was a great container that originally held drywall mud/joint compound, so it was not only waterproof, but mildewproof as well. It held up wonderfully to the elements for a decade, but started to leak a year or so ago. Tis time for crossing the bar.

Geocache Description:

Dear Travelers (of the human and trackable kind),

 WELCOME TO CAPE COD!

Surely, as a geocacher, you've brought some ocean-loving TB's along with you. But maybe you were so enjoying the Cape's other attractions that you forgot to drop them off. No worries, this generously-sized TB Hotel is located right off the Bourne Bridge and Rotary for a quick stop as you arrive or depart.

Bourne Rotary

The cache is at the unofficial truck stop on the southeast side (where the old gas station used to be). It's accessible directly from the Rotary so it doesn't matter what direction you're approaching from. Pull off between Rt 28 S (MacArthur Blvd) and Sandwich Rd as shown on the diagram below. If you miss it the first time, just go around again!

There is NO NEED to cross any traffic lanes on foot! Please park in the truck stop section. Don't block the two driveways just past it, which are private property, as is the dune area marked with a "No Trespassing" sign (this sign does not pertain to where you are parking and searching). Don't fret that drivers in the rotary are watching you—trust me they have other things on their mind. But if you feel you need "cover" you can position your vehicle to block their view. When re-entering the rotary, remember that traffic already in the circle has the right-of-way.

Cape Cod TB Hotel

50 years ago, there was a real motel at this site. It's a long and complicated tale how the Panorama Motel became a vacant lot owned by the state, with its metamorphosis still incomplete.

Hopefully our Cape Cod TB Hotel will have a simpler life. We only ask that you abide by Groundspeak's etiquette for Trackables:

  • TB's and Geocoins are the personal property of their Owners
Respect the Owner's wishes when retrieving or moving the item. DON'T Keep it!

  • Log the Trackable in or out promptly
This keeps its Owner apprised of its whereabouts. Try to drop it off within two weeks.
  • Trackables are not Trade Items
Do not exchange them for regular swag. It's NEVER necessary to leave one to take one. Cache Owners may not impose restrictive trading rules that impede their free movement.

  • Keep Travelers moving toward their goal!
Take the ones you can help and leave the ones you can't. (We've left a roll of low-tack tape and a sharpie inside the cache if you wish to label TB's with specific destinations, e.g. Wisconsin or Maine).
Thank you and enjoy your stay!
