A special cache for celebration 10 years of Hejatours biking holdidays (2003-2013)organised by Herman Limburg and Jan Vlietstra from Holland. In springtime and in autumn they are always on Mallorca with many bikers and stay in south and north part of Mallorca.This little road is one of my favorite cycle roads on Mallorca ,nice scenery ways and excellent for cycling.! The truly amazing Ses Fonts Ufanes represent a natural monument that can be found in the Campanet area, at the base of the Puig Tomir mountain. Ses Fonts Ufanes are the most extraordinary hydro-geological phenomenon in all of Mallorca. Ses Fonts Ufanes are vauclusian springs that appear at irregular intervals, mostly one day after a very heavy rainfall. One might explain the phenomenon as akin to a flat geyser, with massive quantities of water gushing forth with urgent intent. This year, the underground spring waters have already surfaced six times, due to the excessive rainfalls that we have had this year. Earlier this week, this natural phenomenon could be observed again. Last year, the springs erupted seven times, the year before six times. There were periods a few years ago, however, when the springs did not occur a single time for four years in a row. If the rain keeps coming there will be a seventh and possibly an eighth time of this very special occurrence, this year. In 2001, Ses Fonts Ufanes were classified as an Área Natural Protegida, in the category of a Natural Monument. To protect this singular natural treasure, the Ministry of Environment of the Govern de les Illes Balears bought the formerly private property in 2005. To visit Ses Fonts Ufanes, go to the old Ermita de Sant Miquel, on the outskirts of Campanet, and then follow for approximately 20 minutes the well-signed foot path that leads to the springs. If you come on the motorway from Palma, go past Inca until you come to the exit marked with Sant Miquel. Enjoy.
