Geocache Description:

St Ninians and Thornton Wood are located on the outskirts of Kelty and provide some great views over Loch Fitty towards Edinburgh.

The woodland is owned by the Coal Board and Forestry Commission who have kindly granted permission for these caches and extend a warm welcome to you all.

Please remember the code of the countryside, close any gates and take your rubbish home.

Most of these caches are set near to the main paths through the woodland, which is grass Dependant on the weather will determine whether they are suitable for buggys and wheelchair users, but there are several boggy areas which may have to be crossed, depending on your route.

The terrain is mainly flat and an easy walk for all.

Whilst walking through the area, watch out for the wildlife, deer, various birds including kestrels., herons and water fowl.

The woodland covers an area that was previously used for the quarrying of limestone. The quarries themselves along with the kilns, workers cottages and the routes of the trams used to carry the lime around the quarry can still be seen. Much of the landscape, as you travel through the walk, is man made following the excavation of the lime.

Please remember your pen or pencil and don't forget to grab Lost Lassodie, whilst you are here.

Entry to the car park has a height and width restriction, watch your mirrors!!!

St Ninians caches are a joint production between Porrohman and Jolly Giraffe and we hope that you enjoy the walks.
