have a good time
In late 1928 construction began on a 20 room hotel on the meramec river basin. The rooms where to have running water and individual bathrooms. In late 1929 the contractor declared bankruptcy.
Thomas M. (Doc) Sayman bought the hotel at auction in 1931. He was known as a very comical individual having worked for the Barnum and Baily Circus. He later started a company known as the Sayman Investment Company in St Louis Missouri. This company sold door to door over 200 different products. Mr Sayman never completed the hotel ,he died in 1937. The hotel had been bought and sold many times over the years until Connie and Frank Pullium bought the property and fixed it enough to live in it for the next 30 years.
Mrs Pullium said the lobby was just splendid. Unfortunatly it was sold to the United States Army Corp of Engineers in anticipation of the Meramec Damn project. The hotel was torn down that same year of 1941 the only thing left are a few walls and two chimneys. All this information is located on the board at the parking coordinates.
