Geocache Description:

This building was designed by Fred Shellabarger [a BRUCE GOFF protoge'.]
The front/back stained glass, and skylights represent the temple 'rent in twain.'
The cache is above your ankle, and below the height of the bell tower....bring a pen.

This church met originally only a block from the First Baptist Church, kitty-cornered from the new police station. The original building was incorporated into a house next to LEE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
The First Church in America was a part of the Church of England, [y'know Jamestown, Capt. John Smith, and Pocahontas, painting wind, and all that...] Then, as the partiots jettisoned the monarchy, during the American Revolution, so too the church turned to an 'elected official,' known as a Bishop, rather than the King. As such it became the Episcopal Church.
Our small congregation meets on most Sunday Mornings at 10 am, for Morning Prayer, or Holy Communiion Services. Throughout the year, other events are also celebrated, such as Mardi Gras dinner, lenten vespers + soup suppers, Easter services, etc.
