Join over 300,000 people nationwide in celebrating National Trails Day 2012! Come and enjoy the DeSoto National Forest on this 5 mile hike along the Tuxachanie Trail in Saucier, MS.
There are approximately 40 caches in the vicinity, including 7 along the Tux, 11 along the nearby Bigfoot Horse Trail, 5 in the Howison Series and 5 in the So-Shee Series. So it'll be a good day for hiking and caching!
The posted coordinates are for Howison #4, which is near MacGyver69's house. That'll be basecamp for the day. From here, we'll hike 5 miles on the Tux from the trailhead at Hwy. 49 to Airey Lake. After that, we'll discuss plans for picking up the rest of the caches in the area, but they are pretty well grouped together.
This is relatively flat terrain, so it won't be too strenuous of a hike. But bring plenty of snacks and water for trail. We'll likely throw some meat on the grill at Jeff's place for lunch, as we should be finishing up with the Tux and the Bigfoot around lunchtime.
Oh, and I'm bringing my Australian Shepherd, Major! So canines and other pets are certainly welcome!
