The town of Malone, NY was founded in the early 1800's and was sacked by the British around 1813. Many of the soldiers that fought in the war of 1812 settled here. Many of those family names are quite prevalent today still. The village is just north of the Adirondack Park on the crossroads of the commerce to the whole North Country of New York State. Several railroads met here at the station which was behind the hotel across the street from this park. Sadly, the railroads are gone and the hotel fell into disrepair after a fire in 1990. Not to worry - the village gave me permission to place the cache here after being brought up for discussion at the village meeting in April. And the office next door knows about it too.
First to find gets a NY $1000/week scratch-off game. Good luck!
Congratulations to aburke252 as the second first to find.
And to 46er3487 as the third first to find as a micro!
:D - Fourth FTF goes to thebairs!
UPDATE - 8/20/2021 The cache has not moved but it now sits beneath a building-sized mural of geese in flight. It is still being painted so sometimes the cache may not be exactly available.
UPDATE - 10/23/2024 The cache is back with a new hanger. Please hook it back the way you found it and please don't pull on the wire on top. That won't help you open it anyway.
