While practicing CITO elsewhere, I found a container that I cleaned (very thoroughly!), and repurposed.
Parking is available at the end of Mountain Road. The cache is located along a blue&white blazed trail (Charcoal Flats trail), across the stream and uphill from parking.
I have added the ford location I used, which makes the route as short as I could find while staying on blazed trails. One alternative is to cross the stream just after starting out and passing the reservoir. Other trails and crossings are available - the OpenCycleMap and OpenStreetMap options in the Geocaching Maps screen show trails. The final location is just under a mile of trail from parking.
While scouting out this location, I have seen at least two black rat snakes (as far as I know). In each case, they were slithering out of my way as fast as they could go. I was going to subtitle this cache, "Black Rat Snake", but didn't want to scare anyone. So, I'm just sayin', be aware of your surroundings. On perhaps a happier note, I was surrounded by birdsong the whole way.
There is an interesting rock arrangement near the final location. Could it be ad-hoc art?
There is no need to walk on any nearby rocks in order to reach the cache; in fact this is discouraged because sunny rocks are favored snake spots.
Congratulations to the first finders:
