Not sure why this old foundation is here, but it might have a connection with the old potash days of early Hatley. In any event, an interesting site...
Dans le 19iem siècle, cette endroit était connut pour ses entreprises de potasse (potash en anglais). A cet époque, le chemin Vaillancourt était connut sous le nom de Gulf Road, probablement due a la ravine profonde qui débute a l’endroit. La combinaison de ces deux thèmes historiques nous donne le nom du site : Potash Gulf! Notez qu’il y a du stationnement a proximité. This area was once known in the 19th century for its potash businesses. At that time the Vaillancourt road was called the Gulf Road perhaps because of the deep gulf which begins near this spot. Combining these two historical themes, gives us the name of the site: Potash Gulf! Note there is easy parking nearby..."
