This location at one time was the location for GCH1CT. The location is quite special to experience on its own; however for some of us it has a deeper meaning. This is one of the favorite places in the world for the original owner of the previous cache Geonap. It deeply saddened us when Geonap left this world for a grander adventure in the summer of 2011. However, while his physical body has gone and his spirit has joined with The Great Spirit, the memories that he left us will endure the tests of time. It is with joy in our hearts that we leave this memorial cache to celebrate our good friend and brother on this Memorial Day weekend. You will always be with us Bill, you were the ONE…
So now, in the words of Geonap, a few warnings:
#1 You need to wear sturdy hiking boots to hunt this cache.
#2 Be prepared for some elevation changes during your hike.
#3 You are going to travel between 2 and 5 miles roundtrip (if I told you exactly how far it would make the location easier to guess)
#4 NO MATTER HOW CLOSE YOU GET TO THE CACHE BY DRIVING! THIS IS NOT THE ROUTE TO THE CACHE! (this cache is accessible via a hike NOT A CLIMB!!!) Stay on the appropriate trail, as the trail will lead you directly to the area you need to be looking in.
#5 If you take your children with you, WATCH THEM VERY CLOSELY! There are very steep cliffs in this area!!!
This cache can only be hunted dawn until dusk. You will need to pay a $5 day use fee to park at the trailhead. Look near the parking area for the trailhead sign.
This cache is an ammunition type container. It is EXTREMELY WELL HIDDEN, however heavy bushwhacking IS NOT necessary to find the cache. Please be thoughtful of the environment when searching, do not wander more than a few steps off the "trail". Be extremely careful at the cache location, the route is not hard for many, though also not easy for some, and there is not room for more than one or two people to stand at a time. Probably best if younger hunters remain on the safer footing below.
As a side note, this is one of the coolest places I have ever come across. This is why I want to share it with you. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do. I think that you will be very happy with this cache if for no other reason than the location.
