Geocache Description:

The Altamaha River is formed by the confluence of the Ocmulgee and Oconee rivers and joined farther downstream by the Ohoopee River.  The river flows more than 130 straight-line miles from its northernmost points to its entry into the Atlantic Ocean north of Brunswick, GA. The Altamaha River basin drains nearly one quarter of the state of Georgia, with its 14,000-square-mile watershed.

Cache is placed on a sandbar along the Altahama river.  The cache is tied down so it will not wash away when the water levels are high.  I used a kayak to get to the cache location.  It can be easily reached by any river worthy watercraft you may have.  The area the cache is in may have muggle activity on the weekends as some people use this sand bar as a camping spot.  Please rehide the cache as you found it.  The paddle up stream is about 1.4 miles from Johnsons Landing.  If you put in at Johnsons Landing and paddle up stream I recommend you bring water and snacks.  The sand bar is a great place to take a break after this paddle trip.  If you use a boat, you won't break a sweat.
