Hockey Stick!
While you're in the Cowichan Valley, you'll have the opportunity to visit the world's largest hockey stick and puck. While built in 1985 by the Government of Canada for Expo '86 in Vancouver, after the Exibition, it was donated to the Province and a Canada-wide contest was held to determine it's final location. Duncan successfully raised over $150,000 in cash and donated services needed to move the hockey stick and puck from Vancouver to The Island Savings Centre in the District of North Cowichan. It was a huge undertaking as the 205 foot long, 61,000lb hockey stick had to be dismantled and shipped to Vancouver Island by Barge and then brought to the Island Savings Centre on 3 flatbed trucks.
