Geocache Description:

This is a very small micro container, located at the start or end (depending on your direction of travel) of the path that leads along the river from the Town of Drogheda towards the site of the Battle of the Boyne. It is a holey excellent cache that you wont have to leave the path for.

There is very limited parking at this end of the path. The road here is used as a "rat run" to avoid the congestion in Drogheda so park with care.

There is even a stone seat on the other side of the little bridge to provide a rest if you have walked from Drogheda.

This cache commemerates the point at which King William crossed the Boyne with 3,500 mounted troops. From here he advanced towards Donore Church. This was a decisive move forcing James to break off his engagement at Oldbridge and ultimately withdraw towards Duleek.
