Geocache Description:

Spooky harry potter theme cache.

The starting coordinates will take you to our original location of the "Whomping Willow" from B11: Diagon Alley (be careful, it nearly ate PEARLWIND!).  Once you are in Diagon Alley, you'll need to enter the Leaky Cauldron, go out the back door and down the steps, as this is one of the secret ways to access Knockturn Alley.  Please watch your step and be stealthy, as Hagrid says, "Dodgy place,  don' want no one ter see yeh down there."  You'll need to go shopping for some Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent since they've been ruining Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry's cabbages.  You might want to try Borgin and Burkes, as they have a charming selection of poisonous candles, shrunken heads, giant spiders, staring glass eyes, and hopefully Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent!  Beware of the muggle ambush, they have something called "motion activated light" . . . if you trigger it, turn left and cast a confundus charm over your shoulder!

Start at the posted coordinates when it is dark out and bring a good light or headlamp (wand). Hold your wand at your eye level, and say "Lumous Duo" to create an intense ray of light while looking around for a reflection in the trees somewhere. Follow the trail of these magically activated reflectors to the cache site. There is no need to ever leave a trail while following the reflectors. Please do not bushwack. At the cache site, you will find three reflectors on the same tree. The cache will be within a metre of those reflectors.

The reflectors are “firetacks”. They are “retro-reflective”. This means the best reflection is seen when your wand is held horizontally near your eyes (Pointy/glowing end out!) A good narrow beam wand works the best and the darker it is out, the easier it is to see.

Most times you should be able to see the next reflector by the time that you pass the last one. Sometimes, however, you may need to proceed a short way past it to spot the next one. Be careful not to walk too far or to pass intersections. If you can’t see any more reflectors in front of you, backtrack and look around more carefully. If you encounter any really tough spots, please email us the coordinates of the difficult spot and we’ll review that area to make sure none of the reflectors have gone missing. BONUS: From the last tack you should be at the base of a birch tree on the west side of the trail project a waypoint 36 meters @ 44 degrees to the final location.
