The Escanaba Municipal Beach opens in early June and closes mid-August. Located on Aronson Island in Ludington Park, the Municipal Beach is supervised from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm, seven days a week (weather permitting), by Red Cross Certified Lifeguards for about 10 weeks during the summer season. Swimming lessons offered in July.
Beach house amenities include bathrooms, showers, and changing facilities.
Those of us who grew up in Escanaba remember the hundreds of kids who were taught how to swim here in the summer. I wasn't one of them!, I flunked three years in a row!
