Welcome to Progress Park, wedged inside the Broadway & Washington slice of Brookfield's Eight Corners.
This is the first completed Community Art Project planned by the Brookfield Beautification Commission. Beginning in April of 2011, it was dedicated seven months later on Nov 12th. The Fine Arts Department of Riverside-Brookfield HS was asked to create a mural featuring the four elements of nature, illustrating the words attributed to Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Indians. Some of the students added a few words of their own (seven to be exact), some of which are carved in small paver stones set in the ground.
But the park is truly a community project, accomplished through the combined efforts of many local volunteers and contributors, from artists and landscapers to Vulcan Materials and the Brookfield Zoo.
This is obviously a very busy corner. Be very discreet while hunting, retrieving and replacing.
After logging the cache please take a few minutes to relax, reflect, and feel the connectedness. If you can block out the traffic noise you know you have succeeded.
