We hear it all the time, "Geocachers are the nicest people!" It's a wonderful compliment that good-hearted geocachers have earned for over a decade... Cache In Trash Out (CITO) weekend is just another example of geocachers giving back... Since 2002, tens of thousands of geocachers have cleaned up parks, trails and other geocaching-friendly destinations... Geocachers plan CITO events year round, but one weekend each year the global geocaching community unites to cleanup tons of trash together...
The 11th Annual CITO weekend is scheduled for April 20 and 21, 2013. There will be hundreds of events to attend in dozens of countries...
For the Fayetteville area, this cacher has decided to host a CITO event for the monthly "get-together" and the following information is provided:
WHEN: Saturday, 04/20/13, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
WHERE: Lake Rim Boating Access area, 7490 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC
There are many trails out at Lake Rim and hikers and visitors have not been very friendly lately in the area with their littering...Between Scouting events and just hiking in the area, much trash has been picked up but there is still much more to pick up...Lake Rim staff and volunteers have actually planned a "clean-up" sometime in June 2013 but this cacher would like to get an early start and help them out during this special geocaching weekend...
Trash bags will be provided even though all cachers should be prepared and bring gloves, comfortable walking/hiking shoes, retrieving tools, and anything else they think they might need...It is also this cacher's intent to provide a light picnic (hamburgers/hot dogs with drinks) afterwards (starting at 12:00 pm)...
By the way, those attending CITO Events on April 20 or April 21 (or both!) will earn a 2013 CITO Souvenir for their Geocaching profile... Thanks for keeping the geocaching a community one of the nicest groups of people out there!
