Olympic Heroes - Nadia Comăneci Traditional Cache

A series of caches placed in West Wood to celebrate the Games coming to London in 2012.  The series of 4 caches varies in size although none should test the experienced cacher too greatly and make an ideal series for those starting out. The series is around 2 miles depending on which route you take.

The series celebrates some of the greatest sportsmen and women ever to compete at the games throughout the years both in terms of their achievements at the games but also in their wider sports careers. Our selection of these athletes may well cause debate and discussion, indeed when researching there is no agreement on this subject, that is the magic of sport.

Doubtless more great moments will be made this summer.

A Romanian gymnast, winner of three Olympic gold medals at the1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the first female gymnast ever to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event. She is also the winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics. She is one of the best-known gymnasts in the world. In 2000 Comăneci was named as one of the athletes of the century by the Laureus World Sports Academy. In total she is the holder of 9 Olympic medals, 5 of which are gold.
