Geocache Description:

I'll get to it... someday.

I originally placed this cache on January 7th, 2012. I was out exploring Bass Lake and was looking for the 3 active caches at the lake at that time. My daughter and I found a spot that really NEEDED a cache, so we put a container there. I was not really sure about the container, was it solid enough for this location. So, I set it out with the intention to let it "age" in the wild for a while.

Let a couple months go by. I'll get to it... someday. I noticed a cache at Bass Lake that I previously could not find -- was reactivated. I needed to get out there and check on this container. While looking into the reactivated cache, I talked to a couple people and there was talk about a mysterious geocache. Hey, wait a minute, that is probably the one I placed but never posted.

Let a couple weeks go by. I'll get to it... someday. I visited Bass Lake on a beautiful day with the intention to check on the cache, re-take the coordinates for accuracy and find a couple more caches. A bunch have been added out here, by the way. When I reached the cache, the container was in great shape. The location is still nice. AND, I was met with a surprise.

What?!? The log has been signed. No coordinates were posted, no cache was submitted. Just a container in the wild AND STILL geocachers are finding this cache. HOW??? Well, I am guessing there are 2 reasons:

  1. With some insider intelligence, I learned that there was a cache call Bass Lake by Jabba in this exact spot. It was archived back on 10/22/2011. This cache was still in the GPSr of one of the signers. Mystery solved.
  2. I also heard that this was found while another crew of geocachers were looking for a nice place to place a cache. They discovered this cache and signed on their way to finding good locations in the area. Mystery solved again.
  3. There may be other explanations, but this was enough for me.

Now I have a dilemma. What do I do about the first to find? The cache wasn't posted, so how do we do this? Well - here is the solution. I am going to honor 3 first to finds. Please claim each as first to finds in your statistics! First, the first to sign the log. Second, the first to post a found log on Geocaching.com. And third, the first to find the cache after it has been posted. Good luck folk!!!!

Congratulations to CarlinCrew for this FTF. First to sign the log! First to claim the find!! First to sign the log once this was officially posted!!! Not what I expected, but there you have it!
