Please join fellow geocachers for the occasion to chat, swap swag and clean -up one of the Monmouth County Parks. This year we'll be visiting the Bayshore Waterfront Park in Port Monmouth, NJ.
When: Monday June 25th - from 6 PM till 8 PM. Please arrive at the posted coordinates before 6 PM to register and sign the event log book.
Where: Bayshore Waterfront Park At 227 acres, this scenic park is home to a 300-foot fishing pier, beautiful views of the New York City skyline, and the historic Bayshore Activity Center. It provides visitors with a quiet place for a picnic, boating, fishing or birding, as well as a taste of history. The park is located on the beaches of Port Monmouth and sits adjacent to the Monmouth Cove Marina.
Park History: Bayshore Waterfront Park was acquired by Monmouth County in 1988. In 1998 the Bayshore Activity Center was acquired from Middletown Township as a park addition. It is one of the oldest surviving houses in the Bayshore region with ties to the area’s settlement, as well as maritime history. The oldest section of this large frame house dates back to the early 1700s, with multiple additions built by the Seabrook and Wilson families between the 1700s and 1800s. The waterfront setting of this valued community landmark gives way to views of the New York City skyline and Raritan/Sandy Hook Bay.
The Cleanup: Bring clothing that you don't mind getting dirty (long pants & sleeves) and a sturdy pair of work gloves. Everything else will be provided. Anyone may attend and get credit for the event. Younger cachers (13 and under) must be accompanied by an adult but there is plenty to do for kids of all ages! We'll have water and snacks available after the cleanup. There are also plenty of new geocaches in the area to be found if you haven't done it yet.
