A 45 minute drive on a narrow, winding county road. Cache is close to roadway.
At North edge of Salida turn off Hwy 291 across from hospital onto CR 175, 8 miles and bear left onto CR 185, 2 miles (just past water-filled quarry) make left onto CR 184 (road to Turret). Approx. 1 mile downhill and park on the road in the former location of Minneapolis. Original town had 13 structures, six to the North along the gulley and 7 on the hillside to the South. First called Klondike and then South Turret, it was renamed Minneapolis in honor of the purchase of a local mine by the Twin City's Mining & Milling Company. Currently melting back into the forest with just one remaining wall with a doorway still standing. After exploring the artifacts and logging this cache, you may want to continue the remaining mile into the historic ghost town of Turret that is now a week-end and summer cabin get-a-way community.
