The Homestead
Rose Maries Parker lived in a small ramshackle tin roof dwelling with no modern amenities. The home from which she went missing has been a source of mystery as well. After Rose Maries went missing her father abandoned the dwelling and moved to Missouri. He reportedly took his own life by jumping in front of a steam engine train near the city of St. Joseph.
On occasion over the years other farm hand and drifters lived in the residence for shorts periods of time. Many of them reported hearing the laughter of a young girl in the early morning hours. On three separate occasions from 1922 to 1940, when the house was destroyed by the land owner, the young children living in the residence reported having a young female visitor during the night. Each of their accounts of the girl was virtually identical.
Its believed by many that the laughing girl still roams the homestead where she grew up.
