I have been looking for a way to mix my love of food and my addiction of Geocaching. I came across this recipe when cleaning out some folders and decided to make it in to a puzzle. This is going to take some research for some and come very easy to others.
Texas Red Sauce
½ Pound Butter
3 Tbsp Garlic Powder
3 Tbsp Onion Powder
3 Tbsp Paprika
3 Tbsp Salt
3 Tbsp White Pepper
3 Tbsp Ground Cumin
3 Tbsp Dry Thyme
2 ½ Cup ketchup
½ Cup Cider Vinegar
½ Cup White Vinegar
3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ Cup Brown Sugar
½ Cup White Sugar
1 Cup water
In a large pot melt the butter. When completely melted add all of the spices and cook until mostly dry and fragrant. To that add all of the wet ingredients except for the water. Bring the sauce to a simmer and simmer for 30 minutes, stir occasionally so the sauce does not to stick. Add the sugars and water and simmer for 10 more minutes. Sauce can be served on the side or used to baste your favorite meat.
