Geocache Description:

A small cache in a high-traffic spot with a scenic view.

This is the eighth cache of what I'm calling the 'Oscar'-series, dedicated to my first adventuring partner, my dad. Each cache in the series will be at various adventure spots that we shared over the years. When I was growing up, Dad would often take me out on his boat to fish the (then-slightly cleaner) waters of Hilo Bay.  Although we most often went out at night to fish for akule, we'd sometimes head out early and spend the dusk hours whipping for papio in the whitewater and breakers along the western coastline of Hilo Bay.   The cache itself overlooks the Wailuku River at the famous Hilo landmark, the "Singing Bridge", so named for the distinctive noise that car tires make as they roll over the steel grates.  (We actually used to call it the "Airplane Bridge", which I personally think is more apt.) NOTE: This cache is NOT under the bridge, nor do you need to cross the highway if approaching from the parking area just mauka of the street.
