A cache to share a nice place to walk in Sooke.
I placed this cache to encourage you to take a walk along Sooke’s lovely boardwalk. The Sooke Marine Boardwalk opened in October 2007 and offers a fantastic viewpoint for the harbor, East Sooke and the Olympic Mountains. Visitors frequently spot wildlife both in and out of the water. At the pier, locals are often crabbing with great success.
To get the full boardwalk experience, park at the Ed Macgregor Park parking lot (waypoint P1), then make your way to the boardwalk through this park. The start of the boardwalk access is right by the amphitheater. Walk the full length of the boardwalk and then let your GPS guide you to the cache. Once you have found the cache, just head back the way you came. Access to the boardwalk via Ed Macgregor Park is wheelchair accessible, however actually getting to the cache is not.
To make the quick grab, park at the Horne Road parking lot (waypoint P2) and follow the “Boardwalk” sign down the hill, then down the stairs and then let your GPS be your guide. This access point is NOT wheelchair accessible. Please do not park anywhere below this parking lot as there are private residences there and your vehicle could be towed.
Please take care when replacing the cache to ensure it is well-hidden.
