I’ve spent many lovely days hiking in this wonderful park. Most of the time I’d head up to the Hiker’s Hut and park myself for a spell on the bench there. Then I’d generally walk up a bit further to the top of the hill before pointing myself homeward.
Many times I’ve paused at the elevation sign to gaze at everything Mother Nature has to offer hereabouts. I’ve seen a scarlet king snake here, watched red-tailed hawks surfing the air currents and once saw a momma bobcat swat one of her two kittens when he overwhelmed his sibling. Magic spot.
So to share this place I hung a bright blue bison tube nearby to draw a few other folks up this way. There’s no room for a writing implement so bring your own. Once you’re done take a few moments and hang out. It’s well worth it.
