An easy-to-find cache located near the midpoint of Kamiak Butte's Pine Ridge Loop Trail. The cache itself is hidden slightly off-trail, and the entire ridge affords great views of the Palouse prarie and Moscow Mountain.
The Pine Ridge Loop Trail climbs and then descends 600 feet over its 3.5 mile length, but is an easy hike due to the well-groomed trail and many comfortable resting spots along the way. The cache itself is easily found if you stay along the established trail...but keep an eye on your GPS for one sudden turn! Free day-use parking at the trailhead, and access to bathrooms.
We placed this cache to commemorate our third anniversary, and chose Kamiak Butte as the location because it has been our favorite Pullman-area hiking destination for years. The cache location in particular is a cozy little cave-like area just far enough off the beaten path to be interesting and easy to miss if you're not looking; we only found it recently ourselves.
Along with the typical logbook, we've included an "Anniversary Logbook" in which we've encouraged others to share their own stories and happy memories of any of their own anniversaries (of relationships, marriages, dog ownerships, first geocache finds, etc.). We included a picture as well; feel free to do the same if you want! In addition to drawing people to an exceptionally beautiful place, we'd like this cache to also be a repository of happy memories...but that's ultimately up to you, of course!
