Geocache Description:

This cache is a small peanut butter jar tucked under a pocket of rocks near the end of a dirt road in the Frenchman Mountain foothills.  The place just needed a cache.

One of the few dirt roads in this section of Frenchman Foothills passes through a small wash which has some mesquite trees growing in it.  As you pass by, your HC vehicle will get a free treatment of Nevada pinstripes, hence the name.

Access for this dirt road is at the east end of Coldwater Street and Montana Street (both just north of the east end of Charleston).   The cache is ~0.4 miles from the pavement, and will take a 4 wheel drive to get close.  Otherwise, enjoy the scenic hike.

Remember water and that several dangerous critters are in the area, as well some less dangerous ones, and a few other caches.  Take time to get those too, if you haven’t already.  An option is to park at the end of Copper Street and hike from there.  It’s shorter, but more challenging as you have to hike around a big, abandoned house and across a wash.

As of early in 2013, the big, abandoned house has been razed, and is no longer a landmark. Still, GZ is a wonderful view and worth the hike at any time of day or night. Hiking from the end of Stewart is likewise a worthy option. Have fun.
