The Baviaanskloof is a World Heritage Site. Only 4x4 or 4x2 high clearance vehicles with diff-lock will be allowed through the Nature Reserve section between Zandvlakte and Bergplaas (between the two Reserve Gates). There are a few deep drifts in this section that require high vehicle clearance. All day visitors to the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve need to purchase a Day Visitors Permit, which are obtainable at the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve Gates at the western and eastern entrances.
