Geocache Description:

Greater Charlotte Geocaching Club

In Greek mythology Atlas, a Titan, was sentenced by Zeus to hold up the sky, represented by a celestial sphere, and in more modern times, the World. He is often depicted laboring under the extreme weight of this burden. In 1572 the first maps associated with Atlas were produced and not much later the word Atlas would be used to describe a collection of maps. Can you imagine our hobby without an Atlas? But also marvel at how far we have come in cartography and navigation since then.

This is a simple two-stage multi. Coordinates will take you to the parking lot and you will be looking for a tag with the next stage information. One thing to be aware for this cache. You will need to enter the building, so please note the Operational Hours. They are posted below and here. If you notice they have changed when you visit, please let me know. Extra Credit: Since this is a Literature Themed cache, please write a little more than usual (a short story, if you will) in the log book or online log. Like the old days of caching, tell us more about your geocaching adventure tale from today.

Cache is small and can contain a few trackables. No swag please. Cache contains a themed pen, but always carry an extra. Permission has been granted by the library for this cache placement. If the person helping you at the front desk doesn't know about the cache (perhaps they are new or a volunteer and haven't been informed yet), then please ask for Seth or Martie.

Library Hours (if you notice these change, please let me know)
Mon-Thurs 10AM-7PM
Friday 10AM-6PM
Saturday 1PM-5PM
