The Telegram

Though the Arizona Rangers dismissed the bizarre behavior of US Deputy Marshal Ethan White as that of an injured man self medicating himself by use of whiskey, they kept an unofficial eye on him and the kidnapping case of Rose Marie Parker which seemed to obsess him

Ethan White was now the only agent of the law working the case and was doing so on a seemingly continual basis. In the eyes of everyone else the case was cold and the girl was long since dead.

Sometime in mid September Ethan White received a telegram that read:  “Its done…STOP.   Safe…STOP.   SF…STOP.   EP… STOP.”   As if he telegram meant nothing Ethan threw it away and continued his work.  Arizona Rangers, believing it may be a clue that could unravel the mysterious actions of the young Deputy Marshal , retrieved the telegram shortly after White disposed of it.

No one could make out its meaning. The only clue available to the Rangers was the telegrams place of origin, St Joseph MO. None of the Rangers could figure the coded message

Over the next several weeks Deputy White became more and more of a recluse and was rarely seen in  social settings while off duty other than buying supplies and groceries.  Ethan White became some what of an enigma until his own mysterious disappearance on December 5th 1916.
